  2. The Features

    • iPass is analogous to ATM of the banking industry
    • Independent organization
    • Provides technical and operational infrastructure

    • Builds relationships with ISPs to form network
  3. The Benefits

    • Low-cost, local access anywhere in the world
    • Maintain your ISP account and same user/login name and password
    • Continue to use e-mail and web browser of choice, no configuration changes necessary
  4. How it works

  5. Subscriber dials in to remote ISP.
    • Remote ISP encrypts user/login name and password, sends to pass
    • Pass forwards user/login name and password to home ISP
    • Home ISP returns yes and transaction limit to allow connection
    Subscriber ends session.
    • Remote ISP passes length of session information to pass
    • iPass reconciles inter-ISP accounts monthly
    • iPass periodically provides reports to ISP showing subscriber usage
How To Register Through MosCom

  • Obtain the iPass Global Roaming Application Form from MosCom.
  • Obtain a copy of the iPass dialer which contains a list of the cities where you can access the Internet via iPass. It also contains the dial-up numbers of the ISPs of those cities as well as the iPass charges (in dollars per hour of access) for those ISPs. You may obtain a copy by doing any of the following:

    1. Download from ftp://ftp.mozcom.com/pub/ipass/Ipass2_4.exe.
    2. Obtain a copy in diskette form from MosCom and install it in your PC.
    3. Bring your computer unit to MosCom office for installation (by appt. only).
  • Make an estimate on the time you will be using iPass and multiply this with the rate of access for that city. Prepayment or payment through pre-signed credit cards are accepted. You can pay Php 1000.00 fro iPass processing and activation. Take note that in excess of the $6.00 (iPass Processing Fee) and the $3.00 (iPass Global Roaming Service Fee), the balance will serve as down payment for the iPass usage.
  • iPass access will be activated for you.
Roaming Advisory
We recommend that you download the latest copy of iPass into a diskette and bring this with you on your travel. iPass is an alliance of ISPs of which MosCom is a member. Internet access via iPass is not under the control of any single ISP. As such, there may be temporary problems with ISPs in some areas. In this case, contact the ISP in the area where you are roaming. For more details, visit: http://www.ipass.com.
If you are unable to contact the foreign ISP, you may call MosCom at +63(02) 848-2606 for assistance. Prepare the following information when you contact us:
  • your login name
  • if you have changed your password
  • modem access number you are dialing (obtained from the iPass dialer)
  • country from where you are dialing
  • exact error message on screen
  • and other symptoms of the problem
iPass Mail Configuration
Knowing that all Internet Service Providers will not risk their mail server to be used openly by anyone, they are not allowing others not connected to their own network to use their outbound server. This goes with MosCom as well, to avoid our mail server from being used for any SPAM-related activity that will cause a server block by the other networks. Because of this, iPass subscribers should make the necessary modification on their email program configuration, for them to be able to send emails when connecting to other Service Providers outside the country.
